Adventures in North America - A talk by Lizzie Croose
Lizzie spent 3 months last winter working in the cold and snowy forests of North America with the Michigan Predator-Prey Project. In this illustrated presentation, Lizzie will talk about the research she was involved with, the critters she encountered and the differences between fieldwork in the UK and the US.  Venue:  Bunch of Carrots Pub at Hampton Bishop, HR1 4JR
There will be a small charge to cover costs.

FEBRUARY 2018

Tuesday, 20 February 2018 at 19.30 (Change of Date from 1st March)
The Bats of Trinidad by Denise Foster
Venue:  Bunch of Carrots, Hampton Bishop, HR814JR
Until recently, all bats species in Trinidad were considered vermin under the Under the Conservation and Wildlife Act of 1958 which allowed an owner, occupier or their agent to hunt and destroy, without licence, any animal on the list of vermin. Five years after Trinibats started, all bat species except two have now been removed from the vermin list. The Trinibats Project was set up in 2011 to conserve the bats of Trinidad, to educate local people and to remove them from the Government vermin list. Denise Foster has been part of the UK Trinibats team since 2012 and she will be telling us about the exotic bat species encountered and about the trials and tribulations of working in the tropics. There will be a small charge to cover costs.
